This August, immerse yourself in Jazz at some of the most scenic venues in Sardinia at the dazzling Time in Jazz Festival.
Held in Berchidda, Sardinia, the Time in Jazz Festival is an annual music festival with some of the most scenic and unconventional venues. The festival was founded in 1988 by renowned jazz trumpet player Paolo Fresu, who hails from Berchidda. It typically takes place in August, spanning several days and featuring performances in various locations throughout the island, in addition to Berchidda.
The Time in Jazz Festival, set to take place from August 8 to 16, 2025, in Berchidda and neighboring towns in northern Sardinia, promises an exciting fusion of music, culture, and community. This year’s theme, “What a Wonderful World,” reflects the festival’s optimistic spirit and global outlook, with performances and events designed to inspire and connect audiences of all ages.
One of the defining features of the festival is its diverse musical lineup. While rooted in jazz, the festival goes far beyond the genre’s traditional boundaries. Attendees can look forward to performances by internationally acclaimed artists including Enrico Rava, Stefano Bollani, Trentemøller, Les Amazones d’Afrique, Simona Molinari, Paola Turci, Danilo Rea, and Nick The Nightfly. From classic jazz to electronic, world music, and pop-infused rhythms, the program offers something for every musical palate. Many concerts take place in scenic outdoor locations, from mountain trails to village squares, adding a magical quality to the live performances.
Beyond the music, Time in Jazz offers a rich calendar of cultural and artistic events. Art lovers can explore exhibitions such as Alessandro Sanna’s “Segni suonatori,” a stunning display of expressive portraits inspired by past festival guests. Cinema enthusiasts will enjoy screenings like Berchidda Live, a documentary highlighting memorable moments from the festival’s archives. Literary events also feature prominently, with presentations and discussions by notable authors including Ashley Kahn and Franco Lorenzoni.
The festival also embraces educational and environmental dimensions. “Time to Children” presents a range of engaging workshops and performances for kids, led by musicians and educators in a fun, inclusive environment. Meanwhile, sustainability remains a core focus, with eco-friendly initiatives and partnerships, such as with Biorepack, promoting environmental awareness among attendees.
With its unique blend of music, art, literature, film, and nature, Time in Jazz continues to be one of Sardinia’s most cherished summer events.
