Every summer, the picturesque baroque city of Varaždin comes alive with the energy, colour, and creativity of Špancirfest, one of Croatia’s most beloved cultural festivals. This year, from August 22 to 31, 2025, the historic city centre will transform into a vibrant hub of live music, street performances, art installations, and culinary delights.
Špancirfest is a 10-day celebration of art, entertainment, and community spirit, attracting over 300,000 visitors annually. Rooted in the Croatian word špancirati (to stroll or promenade), the festival invites you to explore Varaždin’s winding streets while enjoying open-air concerts, theatrical shows, interactive workshops, and gourmet experiences.
Špancirfest 2025 brings Varaždin to life with a rich mix of live music, street theatre, and cultural experiences for all ages. From free concerts by big names like Franz Ferdinand and regional stars at the Old Town stage, to intimate ticketed performances at Villa Bedeković, music fills every corner, including over 200 street acts. The festival also showcases international street theatre and circus artists, dazzling light shows, and a special European dance collaboration. Families can enjoy kids’ workshops and games, while foodies dive into Wine Town, the Špancir Burger Festival, and the Carlsberg Food & Party Zone. Art lovers can wander Školska and Uska Streets, where creativity spills into open-air galleries and craft stalls. And when the sun sets, the Špancirfest Arena lights up with DJs, drinks, and unforgettable afterparties.
